All Naruto Hokages: Ranked by Power!

All Hokages in Naruto: Ranked by Power!

To be a Hokage... This was the goal of the protagonist Naruto throughout his journey as a ninja and, without a doubt, one of the dreams that most captivated fans of the anime universe. We followed every step Naruto Uzumaki took to become the Seventh Hokage, rooting for him and his achievement! But before he realized his dream, Konohagakure had 6 other leaders. Do you know all the Hokages of Naruto, by Masashi Kishimoto?

From Hashirama to Naruto, Konoha has gone through many different administrations. Each in their own way, the Hokages have brought prosperity and security to the village, but do you know who are the strongest Leaders the Leaf Village has ever had? We are here to present you all 7 ninjas that have passed for the position of Hokage and rank them according to their abilities. Let's go to the list?

What is the function of a Hokage?

The position of Hokage not only involves being the strongest ninja in the village, but also has his political arm and responsibilities to manage all the bureaucracy that running a city requires. Besides keeping the political and social affairs of the village in order, he also needs to maintain the safety of the population, protecting the residents from external threats and enemy attacks (even if it costs him his life).

A Hokage is chosen by a Fire Country Council, which brings together the Leaf Village Council, a ANBU (with one representative) and the commander of the Jounins. It is also possible to choose a new name through the direct nomination of the Hokage himself, if he is still alive. Now, without further ado, meet all the Hokages of Naruto!

7 - Kakashi Hatake

Kakashi Hatake, the Sixth Hokage
Kakashi Hatake, the Sixth Hokage

From the beginning, Kakashi Hatake was presented to the public as a very powerful ninja and the tutor responsible for Team 7 (the team composed of Sakura, Sasuke and Naruto). He would be the ninja who would train these students and turn them into real ninjas, which actually happened. Known as "The Ninja who copies", Kakashi has a Sharingan in place of his right eye, which allows him to copy an infinity of jutsus, which earned him this nickname.

As Hokage, Kakashi took over shortly after Tsunade retired, being named the Sixth Hokage of Konoha. His role as the Leader of the village was instrumental in re-establishing Konoha after the disastrous Fourth Ninja War, being very successful in solving urgent problems and bringing stability. However, apart from his Sharingan (which was given to him by Obito), the ninja does not possess as many powers or abilities as the others on this list, and thus ranks seventh among all the Hokages in Naruto.

6 - Hiruzen Sarutobi

Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage
Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage

Although we met him when he was already old, Hiruzen was well known for being a prodigy of his clan. He was a direct student of Tobirama Senju, the Second Hokage, and assumed the leadership position by direct appointment from Tobirama himself during the First Ninja War. When he was about to sacrifice himself to save his students, the Second Hokage appointed Sarutobi to succeed him.

Hiruzen has the title of Hokage who stayed in office the longest, having aged while taking care of the village and returning to the post after his retirement when the Fourth Hokage eventually passed away. We see his full potential as a great ninja already at the beginning of the Classic work, during the Chunin Exam Arc, when he faces Orochimaru alone and gives his life to save the Leaf Village. Sacrifices end up being recurrent among all the Hokages of Naruto, each in his own way.

With sacrifice, he manages to seal Orochimaru's abilities and the villain spends a long time without being able to perform jutsus. But despite these accomplishments, he ends up being no match for the next names we will bring in our list.

5 - Tsunade Senju

Of all the Hokages in Naruto, she was the only one who showed that she didn't want the position at all, but she was the Fifth ninja to hold the position. Tsunade is the granddaughter of the first Hokage - Hashirama Senju - and became a great medical ninja, a member of the trio known as The Legendary Sennins, alongside Orochimaru and Jiraiya. For many years she ended up distancing herself from the ninja world and its conflicts, but after the death of Hiruzen Sarutobi, she was chosen to manage Konoha.

She was the first woman to assume the post of Hokage, having saved all the residents of Konoha twice with her medical skills and large reserves of chakra, as a good member of the Senju Clan. In addition, tsunade played a key role in the Fourth Ninja War, being the incumbent Hokage during the crisis period. She directly faced none other than Madara Uchiha in one of his strongest forms and survived! What can you say about such a woman, right?

4 - Minato Namikaze

Also known as the "Yellow Lightning of Konoha", Minato Namikaze became the Fourth Hokage, succeeding Hiruzen Sarutobi (for the first time). Unfortunately, he was the character on the list that stayed in office the least among all the Hokages of Naruto, but that doesn't change the fact that this is one of the best Konoha has ever had!

Minato is also Naruto's father and ended up sacrificing himself along with Kushina, his wife, on the day of their son's birth. In a desperate attempt to protect Naruto, the village and seal Kurama once and for all, Minato gives his life without a second thought. Before becoming Hokage, he was an excellent ninja, having been Kakashi Hatake's sensei, and even though we know little about him, mentions throughout the work indicate that he was not only very powerful, but very responsible with the administration of the village as well.

3 - Tobirama Senju

Tobirama Senju is the younger brother of Hashirama Senju, coming to be his successor in office and becoming the Second Hokage of Konohagakure. Unlike his brother, Tobirama was always more cool, centered, realistic, and paid attention to the conflicts that happened frequently among the ninja nations, which led him to be firmer when the subject was "seeking peace".

Tobirama was a master ninja, being responsible for creating most of the jutsus - including the forbidden ones - that we see throughout the series. Shadow Multiclones, Edo Tensei, Suiton... All on Tobirama's account! Like a good Senju, he possessed almost infinite reserves of chakra, which made him an excellent shinobi on the battlefield. However, during the first Great Ninja War, he sacrifices himself to save his trio of students, dying like a true hero.

2 - Hashirama Senju

We come to the Shinobi God, or rather, to Hashirama Senju! He was - alongside Madara Uchiha - one of the founders of Konohagakure and consequently the first Hokage elected among all the Hokages of Naruto. As a good leader who grew up in the midst of conflict, Hashirama had a great desire for the ninja world to find peace, and this incessant search for peace and prosperity gave birth to the famous "Will of Fire".

He is by far one of the most powerful ninjas to have passed through Naruto, even if we haven't seen much of him running the village or on the battlefields. However, he alone has faced and defeated numerous times his former friend and current rival: Madara Uchiha. Owner of a kekkei genkai called Mokuton, he had the ability to manipulate wood, being able to create small and large scale attacks!

His cells had such a high recovery potential that they began to be studied and implanted in ninjas today, even over the years. This man mastered practically all the arts of the ninja world, including amplifying his own abilities by accumulating chakra in a specific point of his body. Anyway... Hashirama couldn't be anywhere else but in the second position of the list that brings all the Hokages of Naruto.

1 - Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh Hokage

"My name is Naruto Uzumaki and one day I will become Hokage, that's right!". Who doesn't remember this sentence coming from none other than the current Seventh Hokage of the Leaf Village, Naruto Uzumaki? Since he was a child, Naruto had a fascination for the position, mainly because he grew up being rejected and discriminated by everyone in the village. If he reached the highest post within Konoha, everyone there would have to respect him! And throughout many episodes and arcs, we see the young man facing endless challenges, but without giving up on his dream.

Naruto is the son of Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki, two powerful ninjas. The Uzumaki clan was already known for having large reserves of chakra, but since Naruto was a jinchuuriki of the Nine-tailed Fox, his reserves became virtually unlimited. Despite spending much of the plot unable to master the power emanating from Kurama, Naruto always sought other ways to acquire chakra reserves, such as training to master Sage Mode.

He has several powerful transformations, but what puts him in our top 1 is his continuous growth, especially in the final stretch of the Fourth Ninja War, where he received his chakra from Hagoromo Otsutsuki himself, which allowed him to access the Six Path Sage Mode! In this way, the Uzumaki became the great hero of the Ninja War and the next in line of succession to the Seventh Hokage, as well as being the best among all the Hokages in Naruto.
