Meet the strongest characters in the franchise!

Many people try, but few anime manage to balance a good story with charisma on the part of those who make it up. This is the case with Chainsaw Man, a story full of violent fights, dramatic pasts and quality animation, just the way every otaku likes it.

In this list, we've put together the thirteen main characters from Chainsaw Man so that you can get to know a little more about the work written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto. We'll follow a descending order, listing from the least powerful to the most skilled of them all! Is your favorite character among them?

Kobeni

The character Kobeni
The character Kobeni

Despite being one of the main characters in Chainsaw Man, Kobeni is not known for being very strong. She has a contract with an unknown demonic entity and is always very terrified, something that became clear in her confrontation with the demon of eternity.

Kobeni didn't really want to work as a demon hunter. She only took the job because she was very poor and had no other option. However, despite all this, she still has her moments of courage and determination throughout the series.

Angel Devil

The character Angel
The character Angel

As well as being one of the main characters in Chainsaw Man, Angel is also a demon who personifies people's fear of angels. He works for the demon hunter agency and reduces the life expectancy of anyone who directly touches his skin.

He is considered the second strongest agent in Division 4, second only to Kishibe. His ability is extremely useful in an execution as he is able to painlessly eliminate a human if he touches him long enough to do so. It is estimated that Aki lost two months of his life after holding his hand.

Aki Hayakawa

The character Aki
The character Aki

Aki is one of Chainsaw Man's most beloved main characters. His serious, quiet and organized manner wins over fans from the moment they first meet him. He has contracts with various demons and is extremely responsible with his work.

Because of this, he doesn't like Denji at first because he finds him rude, but he is assigned by Makima to instruct him in his new job, which strengthens their bond later on. When Power joins the trio, Aki finds himself having to take care of yet another person who is totally different from him, and thus establish more bonds and be a little more open.

Power

The Power
The Power

Power is quite popular among the main characters in Chainsaw Man. She is actually the blood demon who is possessing a corpse and works for the Makima division's demon hunter agency, alongside Denji.

She can manipulate blood, turning it into solid weapons that are very useful in combat. Her temperament isn't the easiest: she's quite selfish, childish, impulsive and greedy, but she's smart enough to assess fights before jumping into them. As time goes by, she begins to form close bonds with Denji and Aki.

Kishibe

The character Kishibe
The character Kishibe

Of all the main characters in Chainsaw Man, Kishibe is one of the last that anyone would want to pick a fight with. He has three contracts: one with the claw demon, one with the knife demon and, finally, one with the needle demon.

He is a person known for always speaking his mind and not being the least bit gentle in his actions. He used to belong to Division 1 of the demon hunter agency, but after the attack on the special divisions, he became the captain of Special Division 4.

Katanaman

The Katanaman character
The Katanaman character

Katanaman is the grandson of the yakuza that Denji kills at the beginning of the story and also one of the main characters in Chainsaw Man. He seeks revenge for his grandfather's death, threatening Denji's group and hitting them with a gun.

In the middle of the confrontation, Katanaman dies and is revived as a hybrid just like Denji, but instead of chainsaws coming out of his body like the protagonist, he has katanas. His main objective was actually to steal Denji's heart and take the last vestige of Pochita with him.

Akane Sawatari

The character Akane
The character Akane

Akane is one of Chainsaw Man's most mysterious main characters. Her appearance is that of a young girl and all that is known is that she likes to work alone and has a contract with the snake demon.

She is also involved with Katanaman and acts as the antagonist of the anime's second arc. Another thing to note about Akane is that she knows Makima's powers and is the mastermind behind the attack on the special division.

Denji

The character Denji
The character Denji

Denji is the protagonist of Chainsaw Man and the current bearer of the chainsaw demon. He is a poor boy who, in life, had to fight hard not to starve to death. He was murdered during a Yakuza ambush, but was revived by his companion Pochita, who transformed him into a demon hybrid.

The boy ends up being taken in by Makima and starts working for the demon-hunting agency at her behest. There he meets Aki, Power and many other agents with whom he bonds and works closely.

Galgali

The Galgali character
The Galgali character

Like Power, Galgali is possessed by a demon and is one of the main characters in Chainsaw Man. The demon he represents is violence and was responsible for defeating several zombies during Katanaman's attack.

Even though he represents violence, Galgali shows compassion by mistaking Princi, the spider demon, for a human woman, which shows that he doesn't like humans getting hurt. The character is also quite polite, by the way.

Pochita

The Pochita character
The Pochita character

Pochita is one of the first main Chainsaw Man characters we meet and also Denji's faithful companion when he was still human. He looks like a cuddly puppy and anyone who sees him can't imagine how much power this little being has inside him.

He is the chainsaw demon and sacrifices himself to bring Denji back to life when the protagonist is killed in a Yakuza ambush. Pochita becomes the boy's heart and from then on he becomes a hybrid of demon and human.

Gun Devil

The demon pistol
The demon pistol

This is one of the main characters in Chainsaw Man and one of the most dangerous demons in history. Demons are born out of people's fear, and as the rate of terrorism and access to firearms has increased greatly over the years, this demon has also grown in strength.

He has various weapons scattered around his body that can fire on command. He also has above-average speed as he can travel around the world in a few seconds, leaving a trail of deaths in his wake.

Makima

The Makima character
The Makima character

Makima is one of Chainsaw Man's most popular and strongest characters. She works for the demon-hunting agency set up by the government as a high-level hunter. It is she who rescues Denji after he awakens in the Yakuza shed and then adopts him as her pet, manipulating him so that he is always with her.

She is very skilled at everything she does and handles emergency situations with a cool head and natural ease. There are many mysteries surrounding her character and her real objectives only become clear towards the end of the manga.

Demon of darkness

The demon of darkness
The demon of darkness

Even in biblical stories, darkness is mentioned at the beginning as something to be fought by God through light. Darkness has always been one of humans' greatest and oldest fears, thus generating one of Chainsaw Man's strongest main characters: the Demon of Darkness.

He is one of the primordial fears and, because of his enormous power, he has never faced the other primordial fear of the human race: death. Not even Makima is as strong as him.

How important are the main characters in Chainsaw Man?

Each of the characters mentioned here has a role to play in moving the plot towards its climax. Even if to a greater or lesser extent, without them there would be no Chainsaw Man that viewers know and love and that have made the work as acclaimed as it is today.

But what about you? Do you agree with the positioning of the characters on this list? Let us know what you think in the comments! Also check out qwho dies in Chainsaw Man if you don't mind spoilers!
