Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has already become one of today's most popular anime, whether it's because of its outstanding animation, its gripping plot or its epic battles which, as well as being electrifying, are often used as a crucial moment in the development of its characters (significantly impacting the narrative of that story). For this reason, today we're going to look back at the 9 best Demon Slayer fights and rank them!
In this list you'll find the most epic fights in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, taking into account not only the intensity of the combat, but also the animation and its relevance to the story. Take a look back at the best clashes between the Demon Slayer Corps and the Onis of Muzan! Shall we?
Shinobu Kocho vs. Spider Daughter
The Hashira of Insects - Shinobu Kocho - has had few opportunities to openly demonstrate her power, even though she is one of the highest-ranking Oni Hunters. Despite being among the strongest, Shinobu doesn't possess as much physical strength, but she does stand out for being an expert in poisons, which makes her a deadly opponent.
In the fight against the Spider Family, Shinobu appears to confront the daughter of the Onis family, facing her opponent with grace. It is in this fight that we see a little more about Insect Breath, which overpowers her opponent and makes her beg for mercy, being eliminated quickly and avoiding her suffering.
This is one of the best fights in Demon Slayer, as this arc of the Spider Family of Onis served as a great introduction to the threats that were to come in the future of the series, since each member of the family was extremely powerful. We also saw that even these demons have a significant past and that, even though they have a mission to exterminate them, slayers like Shinobu and Tanjiro are able to have compassion for the human side of these monsters.
Tanjiro vs. Kyogai
During the first season of Demon Slayer, Kyogai was one of the most powerful demons to be inserted into the plot, being one of the Lower Moons of Muzan. The Oni of Drums lives in a house directly connected to his powers, where when he plays his drums, the rooms and bedrooms change places, turning his house into a fatal and threatening labyrinth.
This is undoubtedly one of the best fights in Demon Slayer's first phase. Everything happened because Kyogai kidnapped a child and Tanjiro had the mission of finding her and saving her from the Oni's clutches. Using Water Breath, Tanjiro confronts the enemy and defeats him, while showing empathy for the villain, caring about his pain and doing his best to ensure that he finds a quick exit.
Another point of relevance to this fight is that two other characters who are important to the plot are introduced: Zenitsu and Inosuke. They are Tanjiro's companions and accompany him on his journey in the Demon Slayer Corps, fighting alongside the protagonist in various confrontations.
Tanjiro, Nezuko, Yushiro and Tamayo vs. Susamaru and Yahaba
Despite not being the strongest demons in the series, Susamaru and Yahaba were two opponents who gave Tanjiro and Nezuko a hard time in the first season of the anime. Sent by Muzan to kill Tanjiro, the two Onis have impressive abilities, such as high speed and overwhelming strength. What's more, the Temaris Oni threw her balls with such force that one hit could be fatal.
But the protagonists showed their strength once again and this is one of the best fights in Demon Slayer, as it showed us Nezuko's abilities, something that was previously unknown to us. When facing the two Onis, Tanjiro and Nezuko had the help of Tamayo and Yushiro (two Onis who, like Nezuko, were not corrupted by evil).
In addition to this confrontation, the connection that Tanjiro and Nezuko made with Tamayo was essential for the future of the plot. Tamayo is a scientist who conducts research in search of a cure for the Onis who have been transformed. Tanjiro's goal is precisely to make Nezuko human again, so this friendship between them could be crucial for the Kamado brothers.
Demon Hunters vs. Enmu
The Infinite Train Arc is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting in the entire anime and contains two of Demon Slayer's best fights, one of which is between Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu against Enmu, the Lower Moon 1. Enmu is an Oni who managed to fuse his body to the train responsible for transporting civilians and thus devoured his victims. But the constant disappearance of this train caught the attention of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Kyojuro Rengoku was the Hashira assigned to investigate the case and was helped by Tanjiro and his friends. Enmu even invaded the Slayers' dreams, seeking to defeat them in this way, but as soon as they discovered the threat, they split up and faced their opponents bravely. The teamwork between the Demon Slayer Corps rookies was essential to their victory against one of the strongest Onis in Muzan.
Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya and Mitsuri vs. Hantengu
The third season of the anime was the most recent and served to raise the bar thanks to the main antagonist, Hantengu (High Moon 4). This Oni is so powerful that it took four characters working together to defeat him for good. Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya and Mitsuri split up to fight each of the clones created by Hantengu, looking for a way to defeat him.
In this memorable fight we see each of them using everything they have to achieve victory, including Tanjiro, who was willing to sacrifice Nezuko to stop Hantengu. Mitsuri showed the power of the Breath of Love, Genya used his ability to absorb Oni powers and Nezuko was in his most powerful demonic form, but all this was hardly enough...
This is one of Demon Slayer's important battles. They won a difficult battle and sacrificed Tanjiro and Nezuko to discover that the girl got the sun and can walk outdoors without being eliminated, just like the other Onis.
Nezuko vs. Daki
The first time we saw Nezuko's most powerful demonic form was precisely in this fight, against Daki, the Superior Moon 6. Although Nezuko always fights in a restrained manner, using only her "pink fire" to help Tanjiro in combat, this was the turning point for the girl to show her full power.
Seeing his brother's life at risk at the hands of Daki, Nezuko reaches a new level of power and an overpowered transformation to save him. With immense strength, Nezuko appears on the scene kicking Daki hard enough for a sequence of powerful blows to be unleashed without resistance from her opponent.
But Nezuko's Oni nature is very dangerous when out of control and Tanjiro sees the need to calm his sister down, remembering happy times they had during their childhood. Although she didn't win because she had to be restrained, Nezuko showed how powerful she is when she reaches her full potential.
Tanjiro and Nezuko vs. Rui
Rui is the main member of the Oni Spider Family, who turned the other members into demons because he wanted to replace the loved ones he lost when he was still human. But his troubled idea of family after becoming one of Muzan's Lower Moons meant that all the other members suffered the consequences.
This arc serves to highlight true family ties, making a clear comparison between the beautiful relationship between Nezuko and Tanjiro, brothers who love and protect each other. This shows that family love can't be forced, as it ends up being by Rui, who wants to force the others to be part of his Oni family.
But what makes this one of the best fights in Demon Slayer, apart from the emotional aspect, is that for the first time we see Tanjiro using the Hinokami Kagura, also known as the Breath of the Sun. Alongside Nezuko and combining their powers, the brothers managed to defeat Rui after an intense fight.
Kyojuro Rengoku vs. Akaza
This is, without a doubt, the best fight in Infinite Train. The arc that introduced us to Enmu also featured a legendary fight between the Flame Hashira and Akaza, the Superior Moon 3 and one of Muzan's most loyal soldiers. The fight is very intense, as well as lively, and has major consequences for the heroes.
Here we see a deep philosophical debate, as Akaza is impressed by Rengoku's powers and invites him to become an Oni. In response, Rengoku reaffirms that there is beauty in being human and that he doesn't want to be turned into a demon. One of Demon Slayer's best fights in every sense, Akaza vs Rengoku showed us just how powerful Hashira is and one of the most memorable members of the main Slayer squad.
Perishing honorably, Rengoku didn't betray his principles and, before leaving, left a message of strength for Tanjiro, which motivates him to this day.
Tengen Uzui x Gyutaro
In terms of animation, this is the top one! Among the best fights in Demon Slayer, Uzui vs Gyutaro recalled great battles from shonen anime such as Dragon Ball ZThe fight between the two characters was one of the most electrifying moments in the entire series. Despite needing help to face the Superior Moon 6, Uzui stood out for being the strongest warrior on the battlefield, representing the Demon Slayer Corps.
The heroes' teamwork succeeded in bringing them victory, but not before we got a glimpse into the past of Gyutaro and Daki, two brothers who were transformed into Oni and had a similar relationship to Tanjiro and Nezuko, bringing a contrast between good and evil. This is considered by many to be a masterpiece of animation, bringing together action and character development, all in a masterful way.
This is our ranking of the 9 best fights in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Despite being a recent anime that is still being adapted, Koyoharu Gotouge's work has already won over a legion of fans around the world and has stood out with each new season, precisely because of its beautiful animation and impeccable action scenes. If your favorite fight is not on our list, don't forget to mention it in the comments!
